We have a month of Spring left before summer hits and this is a time of year enjoyed by many locals and visitors. Many of our residents have traveled north for the season and our "snow bird" tourist season has come to an end. What this leaves us are miles and miles of empty beaches, uncrowded restaurants, and some of the best weather of the year!

This time of year you can stop by any of our local marinas and find a boat to rent, a fishing guide to hire, or room on one of our many tour boats to see the area. Our neighboring islands of North Captiva, Cabbage Key, and Useppa Island are easy to get to and fun to visit! North Captiva is famous for its empty beaches and for dining at "Barnacle's" restaurant. Cabbage Key is popular for its cheeseburgers and rustic inn, while Useppa is known worldwide as a small historic community of homes as well as dining at the Collier Inn. The island has also been added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Another of our favorite island neighbors is Cayo Costa Island. This island is mostly public land that is officially called Cayo Costa State Park. This is a barrier island with miles and miles of beach to explore. While there are a few privately owned homes toward the southern end of the island, the state park consists of 2,426 acres. The park offers a few small cabins to rent as well as tent camping. There are many nature trails and the fishing and snorkeling are fantastic! 'Tween Waters Marina, Jensen's Marina, and McCarthy's Marina on Captiva have boats that will get you there. Cayo Costa is paradise and definitely worth the trip!

If you want to stay closer to Sanibel, you can spend days investigating our own Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, as well as our historic lighthouse, miles of biking/walking trails, and even our historic village where Sanibel "as it was" can be explored. You can see more about the many things to do on my Website. There are so many things to do, things to see, and places to go, and this time of year you have no crowds, no lines, and perfect weather!
You know what else you can do while you're here? Research properties for sale and see if you can find the perfect place to enjoy our islands year-round! We have a nice inventory of homes, homesites and condos to choose from. From one bedroom cottages to large homes on the Gulf, I'm sure we can find something for you. Home construction seems to be on the rise again and I can show you some great homesites as well as introduce you to local builders. I've been a year-round resident for many years and I can help you with all the details that go into buying or building on our barrier island. It's worth it to become a resident and owner on Sanibel or Captiva Islands!

You can give me a call at 239-691-4915, use my contact form, or start the search yourself with my user friendly multiple listings search feature on my website. You can search by price, location, size, or even by map! Give it a try! Have a great week and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
